GML Relay 2006

Kadaster Topographical Service, January 26 2006, Emmen (the Netherlands)

GML produced during the relay
The following table contains the GML documents read and written during the relay. The participants are presented in the order drawn for the relay, so the IONIC output is the Bentley input, etc. (Autodesk excepted, because the Intergraph files did not validate immediately). In some cases (IONIC, ESRI, Intergraph) minor edits were required on the written documents to make them valid XML, in these cases the zip file contains two versions of the documents and a readme file to explain the difference.

top10nl_relay.zip    TOP10NL dataset used for the relay,
15% subset of November 28 dataset.

 1. IONIC  Ionic_relay.zip  1 building deleted,
 1 building added
A number of non-spatial properties were
dropped. All these properties are in both
 schemas (nen3610.xsd and top10nl.xsd)
with the same local name but with
 another namespace.
 2. Bentley  Bentley_relay.zip  1 building added  Has one extra property that is in the
nen3610.xsd base schema but not in
the original TOP10NL GML data, for all
 instances of top10nl:Gebouw.
 3. ESRI  Esri_relay.zip  1 building added  Invalid value for dateTime properties of
 inserted building/Gebouw.
 4. Cadcorp  Cadcorp_relay.zip  1 building added
 5. Snowflake  Snowflake_relay.zip  1 building added
 6. Intergraph  Intergraph_relay.zip  -  Has own application schema (that is valid
GML 3.1.1), with one extra property
 (gmgml:fid) and some user-defined
 geometry property types.
 7. Autodesk  Autodesk_relay.zip  1 building added  Input is original TOP10NL dataset;
invalid values for some of the non-spatial
 properties.

GML produced during preparation
The table below contains the GML and schema documents produced by the various participants as preparation to the relay, based on the supplied TOP10NL dataset and application schema. To produce the files each participant has imported the TOP10NL dataset and then, using their software, has re-exported a new (slightly edited) GML dataset, possibly including a new schema document.

TOP10NL Schema and dataset
The new TOP10NL application schema is based on the (also new) Netherlands 'Base Model Geo-Information' (NEN3610, based on OGC and ISO modelling standards). Also other application models (water, cultural history, spatial development/planning, green environment, cables/pipelines) are or will be based on this. Before shipping, the schemas were validated against GML 3.1.1 via www.mel.nist.gov/msid/validation and the data were validated with XML Spy 5.3. The schemas and data are available in a zip archive, of which the contents is:
readme: textfile with explanation of archive contents
TOP10DEMO.xml: GML fragment which should validate
top10nl.xsd: GML application schema for TOP10NL (version 1.0)
        nen3610.xsd: GML application schema for NEN3610 (version 1.0 RC1)
         top10nl.png: UML diagram of TOP10NL and NEN3610
gml-3.1.1.zip: current GML schemas from OpenGeospatial website

Important dates/deadlines:
    October 13 2005: TOP10NL GML 3 schema/dataset made available
 November 14 2005: Report possible difficulties with TOP10NL GML 3 schema/dataset
November 28 2005: Possibly corrected version of TOP10NL (or smaller set)
 December 13 2005: Confirm participation
January 5 2006: (or as early as possible) Written GML of each participant available
